These five smartwatches are chic and fashionable enough for you to ditch your regular luxury watch.
Apple 3 Watch
It is official: the Apple smartwatch has had a terrible effect on the uber-luxurious Swiss watch industry. Data released by US-based UBS, a financial analysis company, reveals that while the sales of Apple watches have steadily increased, those of the traditional luxury watches have steadily declined. The market for smartwatches is expected to reach $32.9 billion globally by 2020.
There are several smartwatches in the market, besides Apple, including some by traditional watchmakers, most of them 2018 launches. While most smartwatches resemble fitness trackers, some have also incorporated style and glamour into their highly functional watches. Many smartwatches emulate fitness trackers, offering abilities such as heart rate monitoring, GPS and water resistance. Others have gone down a luxury route, trying to match the style of traditional timepieces. Here are some we think make the cut.
Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon
Louis Vuitton brings its iconic colored stripes and initials, which it uses on its bag, onto the smart watches. However the brand goes one step further by offering several bespoke options too. So you can ask for Monogram Eclipse, Damier Azur, Damier Graphite – all the House canvases to personalize your watch. Further, buyers can choose the apps and the specific information they want displayed on their watch face, or have Louis Vuitton customise My 24 Hours watch face inspired by their designs created for personalizing customers’ luggage, even as it simultaneously displays the 24 time zones. Among the other amazing information that this smartwatch offers you: if you are catching a flight, it will display the terminal, boarding gate, flight-time remaining, and much more on the watch face.
Apple Watch Series 3
It incorporates features of WatchOS 4, which are useful when you are tracking your fitness levels while running and swimming. A heart rate monitor helps you plug it into a variety of gym equipment, which means you can preserve your data to analyze and change your workout patterns. Like any smartwatch, you can send out emails and text messages. And, above all, it comes with its own 4G connection.
Apple x Hermes
Apple x Hermes
The two big brands, one a giant French luxury brand and the other a tech brand, came together to launch a watch that’s as glamorous as it is technically proficient. Two years on, they continue to tweak the timepiece for avid consumers interested in both fashion and technology. Hermès have announced a new, expanded lineup of Apple Watch for 2018. For the first time it has included separate bands you can add to your existing Watch collection, which will be available April 19 onwards. Featuring built-in cellular technology, handcrafted leather bands from Hermès, and an additional Apple-designed watch face inspired by the classic Hermès Carrick font, it’s the ultimate tool for the tech-savvy consumer. The new Noir Gala watch strap taps into the world of automobile racing, and references the design of the classic Hermès driving glove.
