Prada’s Corner Shop pop-up marks the beginning of Selfridges’ new Project Earth initiative that aims to link creativity with sustainability in its fashion business.
Prada will showcase its whole Re-Nylon collection for the first time at London’s Selfridges department store. Prada Re-Nylon reinvents the idea of timeless, as something that can truly last forever. Launched in 2019, Prada Re-Nylon is a sustainable line executed in a unique regenerated nylon obtained through the recycling and purification process of plastic waste collected from oceans, fishing nets, and textile fibre waste.
The Italian fashion house, under its Re-Nylon initiative has also pledged to phase out its use of virgin nylon by 2021. Prada also forged a partnership with UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission to develop an educational program focusing on sustainability and the circular economy which will be implemented in schools across the world.
The Prada Re-Nylon Corner Shop at Selfridges will also feature short movies produced by National Geographic, displayed in sync on scenographic multiscreen large-scale arches.
The collection at Selfridges ahead of its global release in Mid-September, includes classic Prada accessories shapes, as well as full men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collection, all realized in black regenerated nylon.
