As the fashion world continues to push towards greater sustainability and less environmental impact, Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta has repurposed a range of its most popular bag models for its Pre-Fall 2020 collection.
The brand’s iconic bags, made from recycled corrugated cardboard paper, are 100% recyclable and FSC certified. Dubbed the Kraft Paper, this new innovative handbag line forms features the now-iconic bag designs all reinterpreted.
Presented at the Fall/Winter 2020-2021 Bottega Veneta pre-collection, the bags are entirely conceived using an innovative “kraft” with a crumpled appearance. The raw material is protected and made waterproof with polyurethane film and microfiber fabric, and somewhat surprisingly, it apparently feels ‘soft and smooth’. This innovation has allowed the Milan house to release its iconic shoulder bag and the BV Twist in a kraft version.
This isn’t the first time Bottega has gone down the sustainable route. Earlier this year the label sent bio-degradable boots made of sugarcane and coffee down the runway, resembling a mix of Dutch clogs, Crocs, and wellies.
