Night of Fire –  Deep, Warm & Sensual
By : | July 10, 2020

An homage to the contrast of man and the elements, and inspired by the fascinating and fragrant culture of the Middle East, Louis Vuitton has crafted its newest fragrance, Nuit de Feu, or Night of Fire.

Trudging across the vast expanse of sandy desert-land, he finally stops for rest. Weary, though resilient to the elements of nature. Face to face with this absolute power of the elements, he comes to understand who he really is. Around him is the stark icy silence. Night has unfolded on this magical land underneath a majestic star studded sky. There is an ice-blue hint of the sprawling dunes beyond. The desert seems frozen. A sheet of bluish grey unknown.

Glowing in this vastness, a campfire dots the landscape. It is symbolic of the resolute spirit of the man. The dance of the quivering flames suggests a beating heart inside his bosom.

The Inspiration

An homage to this contrast of man and the elements, and inspired by the fascinating and fragrant culture of the Middle East, Louis Vuitton has crafted its newest fragrance, Nuit de Feu, or Night of Fire.

“It’s a blend of essential ingredients that have traversed the ages and forged our civilizations. In a world that’s becoming more and more virtual, I wanted to create a perfume that anchors and reconnects us with nature and our collective history.” Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, master perfumer of Louis Vuitton notes on his selection of luxury oriental raw materials for this latest creation.

Notes and nuances

Frankincense, or olibanum, is an aromatic resin used in incense.  For Nuit de Feu, perfumer Belletrud made incense the quintessential ingredient of his composition. Incense has served humans for millennia in terms of perfumery, and often has a deeply sacred dimension to it. From the moment Nuit de Feu touches the skin, white incense from Somaliland, bursts forth with a captivating freshness. Complimenting this, there is an exclusive infusion made from leather cuttings collected in the historic workshop at Asnières. This gives the fragrance a roundness while giving it a sensual yet, deep and restraining dimension

Eco-luxury bottle

In step with sustainability, the Nuit de Feu bottle is refillable. Louis Vuitton has always believed in creating everlasting objects, and so each store has a perfume fountain that makes it possible to replenish empty bottles in a matter of seconds. A step in the preservation of the environment while paying homage to Les Fontaines Parfumées, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud’s creative workshop in Grasse.

This is the third fragrance to pay tribute to the Middle East, following Ombre Nomade and Les Sables Roses, both of which use the expanse of the desert as a stage for transformation.

Louis Vuitton has reserved exclusivity of Nuit de Feu to the Middle East for two months and is available there from May 3, 2020. It launched in the rest of the world on July 2, 2020.
